Renewing Excellence and Solidarity: ISNHS High School Day 2023
Ilocos Sur National High School (ISNHS) has always been a beacon of academic excellence in the province of Ilocos Sur. Every year, the school holds its High School Day celebration, a grand event that brings together students, faculty members, and alumni to celebrate the school's achievements and renew their commitment to excellence and solidarity. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school was unable to hold its annual celebration in the past years. But on March 25, 2023, the school was able to host its High School Day celebration once again, with the theme "Renewed Commitment in Defying Odds to Transcend Heights of Excellence and Solidarity."
The day began with a Thanksgiving mass at 8:00 am, giving thanks for the blessings received and the successful organization of the event. The program started at 10:00 am with a doxology, followed by the national anthem and various hymns, including the Region I Hymn, Vigan City Hymn, and ISNHS Hymn.
The principal of ISNHS, Mrs. Editha Bagcal, delivered the welcome address, expressing her gratitude to everyone who made the event possible. Ms. Gemma Q. Tacuycuy, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent, also gave her message, emphasizing the importance of excellence and solidarity in shaping the future of the students and the community.
Selected Grade 10 students showcased their talents in the intermission number, followed by the introduction of the guest speaker, Mr. Joseph Q. Obrero, Head Teacher VI of the ESP Department. Atty. Lovely Anne Joy C. Lazo, an outstanding alumna of Class 2010, delivered an inspirational talk, sharing her experiences in overcoming challenges and achieving success.
The guest speaker was awarded a Plaque of Recognition, and the teachers' choir presented another intermission number. Outstanding teachers, employees, and retirees were also awarded, recognizing their valuable contributions to the school community.
Mr. Rommel R. Rabo, Asst. Principal II of SHS, delivered the words of gratitude, thanking everyone who made the event possible. The program ended with the closing song, "Walang Hanggang Pasasalamat."
The celebration continued with a field demo at 1:00 pm, beginning with a prayer led by Mr. Joseph Q. Obrero. Mr. Reynario T. Viloria, Asst. Principal II of JHS, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the field demonstration.
The field demo included calisthenics, festival dances, and hip-hop dances, showcasing the talents and skills of the students. The FEC officers also organized traditional games, and the SSG set up booths to showcase their projects and initiatives.
Mrs. Judeliza M. Refuerzo, Head Teacher VI of the MAPEH Department, delivered the words of gratitude, expressing her appreciation for the hard work and dedication of everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
In conclusion, the Ilocos Sur National High School High School Day celebration of March 25, 2023, was a resounding success, bringing together students, faculty members, and alumni to celebrate excellence and solidarity. Despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the school community was able to organize a meaningful and memorable event that showcased the talents and achievements of the students and recognized the contributions of the faculty members and employees. Through this celebration, the school renewed its commitment to upholding excellence and solidarity, paving the way for a brighter future for the students and the community.
